As we wrap up this weird and challenging year, it seems like a good time to look back on the books I read to cope with… well, <gestures all around> this.
I would recommend all of these books, of course. Except Martin Amis’s Night Train. Reading a British guy’s attempt to write in the voice of an American woman stabs at a dozen corners of annoyance in my brain.
